Daily Alchemy 010: The Awareness Triad
Belonging. Safety. Rewards. Return to Self.
Before we were old enough to understand why we behaved certain ways, we were already learning what helped us feel connected, safe, and valued. We learned what earned attention, what prevented conflict, what made people happy with us, and what versions of ourselves seemed most accepted. Over time, these strategies can become so familiar that we stop recognizing them as learned patterns and begin experiencing them as simply who we are.
The Awareness Triad invites you to look at three places where some of these patterns may have formed: belonging, safety, and rewards. What did you learn you had to do to belong? What did you do to feel safe? What did you believe you had to do to receive love, attention, praise, approval, or worthiness?
There is nothing wrong with the version of you who learned these strategies. They helped you understand and navigate the world with the awareness you had at the time. The work now is recognizing which patterns still support the person you are becoming and which ones continue to pull you away from yourself.
The Practice: Reflect → Notice → Choose
Take a moment with each part of the triad and reflect on the patterns you learned. Then notice where those same behaviors still appear in your relationships, work, decisions, and emotional responses today.
Finally, bring your attention back to the center: SELF.
Ask yourself: What do I actually need? What am I feeling? What matters to me? What choice reflects who I am now rather than what I once learned I had to be?
Awareness gives you an opportunity to stop automatically repeating what once kept you safe, connected, or accepted.
You can honor what helped you survive… while consciously choosing what helps you become more fully yourself.
