The Power of Thoughts: Electrical Signals & Emotional Magnetism…

Your thoughts are not passive. They are electrical. Every single thought you think fires electrical impulses in your brain. Neurons communicate through rhythmic electrical activity, patterns that can be measured as brainwaves. Beta. Alpha. Theta. Gamma. Your mind is not just imagining… it is constantly emitting. And those electrical signals trigger or activate chemistry.

As I wrote in The Power of Thoughts chapter in Bent Not Broken, when you think a thought, your brain releases chemical messengers that tell your nervous system how to feel. Fear-based thinking releases stress hormones like cortisol. Empowering thoughts release dopamine and serotonin. Your thoughts instruct your body on what emotional state to embody.

And here’s where it gets powerful…

Your thoughts are electrical… Your emotions are magnetic.

Your thoughts focus in on what you want to experience. Your emotions draw that experience toward you.

The Emotional Frequency Scale & Consciousness

Dr. David Hawkins, pioneer of consciousness mapping, spent decades researching measurable states of human consciousness. He created what is now known as the Map of Consciousness, a scale measuring emotional frequencies from shame and guilt at the lower end to courage, love, joy, and enlightenment at the higher end.

What’s fascinating is this: Your dominant thoughts influence your measurable emotional state. And your emotional state influences:

  • Your nervous system regulation

  • Your perception of reality

  • Your behavior patterns

  • The choices you make

  • The results you create

Lower-frequency thoughts (fear, blame, resentment) activate survival-based brain rhythms… chaotic, fast Beta waves, keeping you reactive and defensive.

Higher-frequency thoughts (gratitude, possibility, trust) move you into Alpha and Theta states… creative, intuitive, regulated. In moments of elevated emotion, you can even access Gamma states, associated with transformation and integration.

Your Brain Doesn’t Know the Difference

One of the most profound truths in this work: Your brain does not know the difference between a thought and reality. If you replay a painful memory, your body reacts as if it is happening now. Heart rate increases. Stress hormones rise. Muscles tense.

If you visualize peace or success, your body releases chemicals associated with safety and reward. Your emotional baseline becomes your signal. And your signal becomes your lived experience.

My Own Thought Pattern Shift

There was a time in my life when my thoughts were hyper-focused on what could go wrong.

“What if this doesn’t work?”

“What if I’m not enough?”

“What if I fail?”

Electrically, my brain was in overdrive. Emotionally, I lived in subtle anxiety. And here’s what I didn’t understand at the time: It wasn’t the circumstances creating my emotional baseline. It was the story I kept rehearsing. When I began observing my thoughts… truly observing them, I realized I had been telling the same survival-based narrative on repeat. So I didn’t force positivity. I practiced reaching for slightly better-feeling thoughts, just like I wrote in the chapter.

Not “Everything is perfect.”

But maybe:

“I am learning.”

“I can handle this.”

“I am allowed to grow.”

That slight shift changed my internal chemistry. And when my internal chemistry changed, my nervous system softened. When my nervous system softened, my behavior shifted. When my behavior shifted, my results changed. This is the loop.

Thoughts, Emotional Frequency & Creation

Think of it this way: Your thoughts tune the station. Your emotions amplify the signal.

If your thoughts are aligned with fear, even if you say you want love, your emotional frequency may still be broadcasting scarcity.

If your thoughts are aligned with trust and growth, your emotional state begins to embody safety and openness… and you move differently in the world. You don’t attract what you want. You align with what you consistently feel.

And feeling is chemistry. Chemistry is triggered by electrical thought patterns. This is both neuroscience and consciousness work.

Ask yourself:

  1. What thought or story have you been repeating that no longer aligns with who you’re becoming? 

  2. If you were the main character in a new story starting today, what would you choose to believe? 

  3. What is one better-feeling thought you can practice this week to gently raise your emotional frequency? 

You don’t have to leap from fear to bliss. Just shift the signal slightly. Electrical thought by electrical thought.
